The US stock market (NYSE and Nasdaq) closes for about ten US public holidays a year, plus a few early-close half-days. Below is the full 2026 calendar of market closures — and how you can keep trading US names like Apple and Nvidia on Himbit even when Wall Street is shut.
US stock market holidays 2026
On these dates the NYSE and Nasdaq are fully closed — no regular, pre-market or after-hours trading:
- New Year’s Day — Thursday, January 1, 2026
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day — Monday, January 19, 2026
- Presidents’ Day — Monday, February 16, 2026
- Good Friday — Friday, April 3, 2026
- Memorial Day — Monday, May 25, 2026
- Juneteenth — Friday, June 19, 2026
- Independence Day (observed) — Friday, July 3, 2026 (July 4 falls on a Saturday)
- Labor Day — Monday, September 7, 2026
- Thanksgiving Day — Thursday, November 26, 2026
- Christmas Day — Friday, December 25, 2026
When a holiday lands on a weekend, the closure usually shifts to the nearest weekday — which is why Independence Day is observed on Friday, July 3 in 2026.
Early-close (half-day) sessions in 2026
On a few days the market opens normally but closes early at 1:00 PM ET (pre-market is unaffected; after-hours is shortened):
- Friday, November 27, 2026 — the day after Thanksgiving
- Thursday, December 24, 2026 — Christmas Eve
Do crypto and perp markets close on these holidays?
No. Unlike the stock exchanges, on-chain markets never take a day off. Hyperliquid’s order book — and therefore Himbit — runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including every US holiday and weekend.
Trade US stocks on holidays — on Himbit
This is the useful part of the closure calendar: when the NYSE is shut for Thanksgiving or Christmas, you can still trade US-stock markets — Apple, Google, Nvidia, Tesla and more — as perpetuals on Himbit, around the clock, from your own wallet. What makes it different from a brokerage account:
- You keep custody. Himbit is a self-custodial front-end on the Hyperliquid on-chain order book. Your funds stay in your own wallet — Himbit never holds them.
- No KYC. Connect a wallet and trade — no account application.
- Perpetual markets on tokenised stocks. You trade the price, long or short, with leverage — you can short a name as easily as go long.
- Published fees. A low 0.025% builder fee with no hidden spread — see the full fee schedule.
Available markets change over time — see the live markets page for the US-stock names trading right now.
How to trade a US-stock perp on Himbit
- Open himbit.com/perps and connect your wallet.
- Search for the stock market you want (for example AAPL, NVDA or TSLA).
- Choose long or short, then set your size and leverage.
- Confirm from your wallet — the trade settles on Hyperliquid; Himbit never takes custody.
